One, two, three, or four weeks
March, April, May 2010

Foundation Global Education in cooperation with Gezhi High School, Shanghai, can arrange individual student study/research projects for two or more weeks during the months of March, April, and May, 2010.   These are open to grade 12 students or special grade 11 students interested in research projects in Shanghai.   More information will be available on our website by November 1, 2009.

Students accepted into the program will spend one, two, three, or four weeks attending Gezhi High School and conducting research on a topic chosen by them and approved by Gezhi High School and Foundation Global Education. The length of time and the exact dates for the study/research are to be established by the student during the application process and subject to the approval of Gezhi High School.

The school will assign its top grade-twelve students who have already been accepted into Chinese universities as interpreters and translators. Gezhi teachers whose fields match those of the research topics will serve as advisors. Participants will live in the school dormitory during the week, taking meals in the school canteen, and enjoy homestays with families of Gezhi students over the weekends. Attendance at special events and visits to important sites in and around Shanghai will be arranged by the school.

In addition to their study/research, participants may attend classes and other activities at Gezhi and special tutorials in Mandarin will be offered to them. While some knowledge of Mandarin is desirable, no previous experience with the language is required.

Gezhi High School has the most active environmental organization among Shanghai high schools, as well as extensive science laboratories, and good relationships in the local government, business, and arts communities. The school is committed to opening doors to students so that their research can access the best possible resources.
