Shanghai (two nights)
Suzhou (two nights)

Students in both programs will stay with families of high school students in Shanghai and Suzhou.   This experience, usually considered the highlight of our past summer programs, will enable the students to gain a much closer understanding of life in China in 2010.   Students will see these two different cities through the eyes of their host students and exchange views on topics ranging from tastes in music, college admissions pressure, goals for their futures, to views of the world.   Shanghai and Suzhou high school students will show program participants places in their cities that they like, so that participants can gain a better understanding of the lifestyles of high school students in these two cities.   In addition, in each city one of the parents will take our student to his or her workplace, affording our student a real insight into life in contemporary China.   When students share their various homestay experiences with the group, all students will gain a new perspectiveon twenty-first century China.
