Daniel Szeto is Director of Foundation Global Education and Co-Head of Foundation Programs. Since cofounding Foundation Programs in 2001, he has been directing the organization's admissions efforts to over 1,000 top secondary schools in 20+ countries and has been orchestrating 400-500 school visits in North America and Europe each
year, speaking to teachers, parents, and students. He was born in Hong Kong and educated at The Webb Schools, one of the
leading independent boarding schools in the United States. He graduated with both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Engineering from Cornell University, New York, and had spent close to 10 years in Asia on strategy
formulation, business development, and operations management work in management consulting, financial services, and industrial sectors prior to realizing his calling in education. He currently resides in Hong Kong with his wife
and 3 children.
Rae Kuang is Overseas Education Counselor at Foundation Global Education. Born and raised in Mainland China, she moved to the United States at 17 and later received her Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from University of California, Berkeley. She has volunteered in many community services — from working with local youths of minority ethnic groups, caring for senior citizens, to supporting union workers. She relocated to Hong Kong with her husband in 2008. She is passionate about language and cultural studies, and is conversant in Japanese and is picking up Korean.
Lily Tang is Associate Overseas Education Counselor at Foundation Global Education. She was born in Hong Kong, but grew up in the UK after following her family's emigration. She completed her primary and secondary (both GCSE and A-level) education in Cambridge, England, and went on to graduate from London School of Economics and Political Science with a Bachelor's degree (Honors) in Sociology, with minor concentration in Education. She had provided research assistance for the UK government's "Building Schools for Future" national education initiative and was part of an education consultancy force on school management and administration. Upon her return to Hong Kong, Lily had worked at one of the leading US test preparatory and English training education organizations running its front-end SSAT / SAT / GMAT / TOEFL / IELTS operations. She is a distinguished ballet dancer, and in her spare times, she enjoys volunteering at the church and playing piano.
Meirong Kuang is Associate Overseas Education Counselor at Foundation Global Education. Born in Mainland China and raised in the United States since 6, she received her Master's degree in Counseling from Columbia University, New York. She has led various teaching and research capacities during university years as well as counseled fellow students and tutored English and Math. Upon her graduation, she decided to explore further her Chinese roots and has relocated to Hong Kong. She enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures.
Vanessa Chow is Associate Overseas Education Counselor at Foundation Global Education. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada since 5, she had lived in Montreal, Quebec, and Vancouver, British Columbia. She graduated from University of British Columbia with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She had been an English facilitator at The Chinese University of Hong Kong teaching English to and mentoring over local high school students. Vanessa loves traveling and regularly practices yoga and meditation. She speaks fluent English, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), and French.
Kenny Yim is Associate Overseas Education Counselor at Foundation Global Education. Born and raised in the USA, he was admitted on full scholarship to Williams College, Massachusetts, and received his Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Psychology. He is passionate about teaching. He has tutored fellow college students at Williams and has volunteered teaching underprivileged high school students in New York City. His latest teaching experience took place at Shenzhen High School, China where he helped revamp the English curriculum of the School's Study Abroad Division and offer US university admission guidance to its students. He has also lived in Taiwan and is now residing in Hong Kong. He speaks fluent English, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), and Spanish.
Yan Zhai is Assistant Overseas Education Counselor at Foundation Global Education. Born and raised in Mainland China, she went to obtain her university education the United States, where she later graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. During her 8 years' stay in the US, she had, among other experiences, worked in the healthcare industry and taught primary and secondary school students in one of the world's largest after-school tutoring organizations. She loves cooking and especially enjoys sharing her culinary know-how with others.
Phyllis Cheung is Assistant Overseas Education Counselor at Foundation Global Education. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she left the territory after her secondary school education to pursue further studies in the United States. She graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and has since been working at Foundation Global Education. She actively participates and leads in church services, and enjoys spending her free time traveling with her family and dogs.
The Team Foundation Global Education is supported by the same team of educators that are behind
Foundation Programs. Our counselors are citizens of the West who have been raised and educated in North America, the UK, and Continental Europe, yet understand the pros and cons of
the Asian education systems. Collectively, the team speaks fluent English, French, Spanish, German, and Chinese.
Board of Advisors
Roy Bergeson has been involved with elite secondary education for over 40 years. After graduating from Phillips Exeter
Academy and receiving his bachelor's degree in European history from Stanford University, he began his teaching career at
The Webb Schools in California and over the next 23 years served at various teaching and administrative positions as the schools’
History Department Chair, Dormitory Head, Dean of Students, Dean of Faculty, Director of Admissions, and Assistant Headmaster.
As Director of Admissions for thirteen years, he headed the schools’ efforts to reach out to educating the elites in Asia. He had
worked with many Asian families and was familiar with the unique characteristics of Asia’s different education systems. In 1992 he
moved on to become Head of the Upper School at Collegiate School in New York City, the oldest independent school in the US. Since
his retirement in 2000, he has taught English at Suzhou Middle School, one of China’s national key schools, and advised the school on
US universities and admissions. He has frequently offered personal assistance to Chinese families on overseas high school and
university placement. He was made an honorary citizen of Suzhou in 2002 and currently resides in Shanghai.
